JD Wicker on Rocky & Stadium

RE: JD Wicker on Rocky & Stadium
One thing to consider in a new SDSU/MLS stadium is ticket prices are going to rise significantly.

We will be paying what Boise State, Colorado State and Fresno State are paying. The days of $100 season tickets will be over. I don't think we will fill a 40K stadium when we increase our ticket prices.

35K, with ability to expend to 40K with temp seating, and expand to 45K with permanent seating.

You really devalue the product when you have too much seating. We want people on waiting lists, we want tickets to be tough to get. Giving away 10 dollar view tickets in a 50K stadium is dumb.

My thoughts exactly...I think 35k with an SRO/student section/grassy knoll, of 5-8k, in the open end zone is the way to go. The MLS can tarp the open end zone as well as 10k additional seats towards the top of the bowl/upper deck. If the team has matching colors it should work very well. I also think the MLS team will draw more than people anticipate, SD has more soccer fans than we get credit for IMO.

Then we'll need a coach who wants to get to, and win, the NY6 bowl at all costs.  Not limit himself at the MWC level.  I like Rocky, but that's his ceiling.

You obviously didn't listen to Rocky throughout the season if you believe SDSU and their staff wasn't shooting for the NY6 access game.

Of course he's going to say that.

Come on. Let it go at this point, or at least this thread. Rocky will be our coach for however long he wants. I'm not a HUGE Rocky fan, but I have come to terms with it. A Rocky Coach team can sell out a 35K or 40K stadium

Keep in mind we won't be talking $6 seats anymore.  The product on the field along with upgraded competition is what will drive attendance to its maximum.  We can't live on charging $25 a seat to watch SJSU come down here, but we can for a P5 team.  Beating them is the cherry on top.

Follow the Louisville example. Start at 35,000 and expand from there.
